Shards of Dalaya is an EverQuest emulated server that has been opened under its first name Winter’s Roar since 2003. Take most of what you know about the original EverQuest and throw it out of the window. Classes for the most part will remain the same as Clerics , Shamans and Druids Heal. Your tanking classes would be Warrior, Paladin and Shadow Knight. Finally the DPS set would be Magicians, Wizards, Rangers, Monks, Beastlords, Rogues, and Enchanters. You might notice that I missed one particular class and that would be Bard. Bard will still remain as the little bit of everything class.
The world of Shards of Dalaya is a completely different than everything else. Cities which were once popular on live are either empty or have been converted into EXP zones (such as Freeport , Kaladim, and Rivervale). The real reason it is worth it to play on this game is the Lore. As soon as you sign up into the game you will be logged into “the dream” which will guide you through some basic commands and start giving you information about the actual server. Once you pass the dream you will start off as you normally would on live (in “newbie zones”).
The review of this server will be that of a person who has played on it for over 7 Years. This will not be your normal review of a person who only has 20 minutes of gameplay. Unfortunately I have probably logged over a years worth of time on this server. There will be absolutely no organization when it comes to this review. I will jump from recommendations to my views on different subjects.
Shards of Dalaya -The rush to level 65. The quest to bench 400 lbs.
Unfortunately for people starting off now there aren’t as many people leveling as I used to have back in the day. The best time I ever had playing on Shards of Dalaya was grouping with a bunch of bro’s. Normally this is unanimous throughout all of the players on the server. If you were to start playing on this server today you will be out of the best Dalaya has to offer. Gone are the days of lowbies looking for groups, gone are the days of making lasting relationships that will help you on your quests at level 65, gone are the days of being able to do anything if you don’t have a maxed out character.
The server itself seems to be on a decline. Mornings you will find around 50 people, afternoons around 100, and evenings it will top at around 150 – 175. Finding groups for that fresh 65 is going to be tough. A good majority of the player base has already farmed a good amount of AA’s, tomes (alternate way of getting AAs due to client limitation), and has an at least T6 set of gear. If you want to play on this server you will literally be forced to find someone to leech off of. No longer is the fresh gear setup the norm. You are now a liability to everyone.
