After you finished building your HTPC build you will want to get a couple htpc programs to make your life easier. The following applications are the ones which I use when I download content from usenet groups. By no means are these the only applications that you can use but these are the ones that I have found to be the easiest.
HTPC Programs to use –
- SABnzbd [ http://sabnzbd.org ] – This would be your main source of downloading if you plan on using usenet groups. This normally handles any and all downloads which are sent via other programs. The program is free to download and can be installed on Windows, Linux and MAC.
- Couch Potato – [ https://couchpota.to/ ] – Think of the program as a queue system for movies. This free program will allow you to queue old , new , and unreleased movies and will automatically download them in the quality you define and as soon as its available. When it comes to SABnzbd this program tells it which movies to download.
- Sick Beard – [ http://sickbeard.com/ ] – This program is the same as Couch Potato but for TV shows. This program will act as a queue system and tracker of the episodes you wish to download. If the series is an ongoing series it will automatically schedule the download of the new episodes once its available online.
- Plex – [ https://plex.tv/ ] = Plex will be the program that gives you the ability to browse through your catalog of movies, tv shows and music. Plex has a few different service packages it offers its customers. Some of the packages you will have to pay to get a premium service but I found that if you are using a ROKU unit to stream your videos that you will do just fine with the standard unpaid version. Fast and easy to use.
If you are interested in downloading anime you could always get the port version of Sick beard. That HTPC Program would be the first thing you should download if you want to make your life easier as an anime fan
