Day 2 – Rain rain go away! – Fat Cyclist

Day 2 – Longer time! – Fat Cyclist

Continuing my quest to reach 600 miles on the bike by the end of the year! After today’s ride I am now down to only needing 591.2 miles! To put that into perspective that would be like riding a bike from Miami, FL all the way up to Macon, GA (link).

Aches and Pains

Generally speaking I did not have many aches and pains due to this ride. Yes, I am fully aware that 5.7 miles is not a huge ride in the grand scheme of things. But to a person who is overweight and hasn’t done any exercise in a quite a bit of time this was tiring.  Pre-riding the bike I already had a knee issue and my knee’s were quite a bit sore after the ride. I attribute this to not having it fully developed more-so than the bike not properly fitting (because the bike is for my stature).  I also noticed a little bit of soreness on my elbows as well… This however I will attribute it to not having the front handle bars positioned correctly. The guy at the bike store told me to ride for a bit and to let him know the aches and pains ( I didn’t have my bike shorts at the time of purchasing my bike therefore he could not fit it correctly. Apparently the little pad the shorts come with can mean the world when it comes to properly fitting the bike).

Ride conditions

The day definitely was not a perfect day to ride the bike due to the amount of clouds in the sky. Not wanting to miss out a day I ventured out. The wind was blowing and was causing me to get tired faster than I had wanted. Construction didn’t help either! A loop which is supposed to be 3 miles turned into a 1.5-ish adventure that caused me to loop instead of keeping a pace. Luckily there weren’t many cars that were driving on the road; the gnats however made up for it.
